RX-78 Battle scarred Gundam by AlmightyNabeshin RX-78 Battle scarred Gundam by AlmightyNabeshin
I did the Battle scarring and fine detail all by hand and from scratch. The metal frame exposed on the left (right side for you) of it's chest was made from a paper-clip... That is resourcefulness right there. Like some of the other photos I've submitted recently, this is not current and consequently the model looks a lot better than it does here.

Enjoy. :)

I've gotten better. I'll need to put up a new GUNPLA one of these days.

If you do I am sure many would enjoy it. Especially given the rise in American and Canadian Gunpla fans. Coincidentally I only ever found this cause I was searching for the old 'battle-scarred' action figures, specifically Heavy Arms Custom. You put the official figures to shame lol.

PS I didn't end up buying in but I did get get PG Ez8 which is awesome.

I'm pretty sure it can still operate even in this state, although the pilot is more vulnerable now

well mostly the front and left, there is still some armor on the right side, although it wont help since the enemy will usually shoot from the front

Sorry to say, I don't believe you did this yourself.

You can buy battle scarred Gundam.

Why don't you believe that I could take a soldering iron and cut up a piece of plastic and poke paper clips in it like MacGuyver? I will upload what it looks like now if you like, or more of my Gunpla I've done since.

You can doubt me all you want. It doesn't make either of us right.

It looked like it went through platoons of Gelgoogs, Rick Doms, Zakus, and even the Zeong. But in the end, only Gundam remained standing.

I think that I would consider it nonfunctional at this point.

I really only imagined that it would be this damaged after a single battle, as the level of damage will hinder performance...

Nah, it's just a mecha flesh wound. He'll be fine. Just patch it with duct tape and send him back out.

Amuro: But half the left shoulder and chest area is missing...

PATCH IT WITH DUCT TAPE! >/

What's cheaper? Soldering iron or soldering gun?

No idea what a soldering gun is. My advice is that if you get an iron, make sure it's the variety that has replaceable tips and keep one or two just for actual soldering.

A soldering gun is the same as a soldering iron, but in the shape of a gun. Instead of a barrel, it's a tip, just like the soldering iron. It's commonly used for soldering wires in machinery.

Since I use pencils and such, I feel more comfortable with the iron, variation. If a gun as easier to control for you then go for it.

I don't know which is less expensive, ask someone in a hardware store.

OMG! How did you get those scars onto the Gundam? Did you use a hot knife and melted the plastic?

OK, I have to ask. What'd you use for the battle damage, a hobby knife or a lighter, or both?

Wow, I need to update this photo! It looks much better (worse) now than ever. The fact is that it has collected the simulated damage over a long period of time wherein it has been torn down, built up, torn down again, cannibalized, combined with another Gundam model, scarred some more, painted (finally) and then weathered.

O.K. The break down. The entire left side was broken so it was cut and burnt a little. The diagonal slash and all of the holes were done with a soldering iron (be careful if you try this yourself, it might damage the tip) The most recent add-ons in this picture is the frame work (paperclips). The only thing I try using lighters for is soot (before I decided to get flat black paint instead).

One work, Ouch! This Suit looks mauled and in a state of repair than can only be summed up as the lowest level short of being junk. And you have followed the unwritten rule of Anime Mech damage: "Always on the left". The EZ8 had simlar damage done to it in 08th MS Team and Big Fau had similar damage done as well in Big O!. Nice work again.
